The exhibitions will open on Friday, June 21, 2002 and continue through August 1st. There will be a RECEPTION on Friday, June 21st from 6-8 pm. Both artists will be present. The Gallery is located at 171 Central Avenue in Pacific Grove. Gregg Chadwick: San Francisco painter Gregg Chadwick states about this body of new work:
Michael Thomas Kainer: Local Artist, Michael Thomas Kainer will be showing paintings painted from the rooftop of his studio in Pacific Grove. As the Exhibit Preparator for the Monterey Museum of Art, Kainer has been the fortunate benefactor of a studio in the historic Holman Building on Lighthouse Avenue in Pacific Grove. With the fate of the building as a property of the Monterey Museum of Art unknown, Kainer has been determined to capture 360 degrees of the view from the rooftop of this magnificent building. As a plein air painter known for his beautiful land and sea scapes, this is Kainer's debut painting structures: in these paintings Kainer has not only captured the sea and sky that define Pacific Grove, but all those old buildings that define us as well. This body of work represents a departure for Kainer, fueled by his love of the area and his desire to record this precise moment in Pacific Grove, where the comfort of the past is met with the uncertainty of the future. Gallery Hours are: Tuesday - Saturday: 11-5:30 and by appointment. previous exhibitions... |
